Rosé 2023
Estate Grown | Hand Picked | Grenache | Mourvèdre
Our Marananga estate grown Grenache was planted in 2015 from vine cuttings taken from our old vine block at Moppa, an old unknown clone. The vineyard has been set up like they were with the early settlers, trained and pruned with the bush vine method. The soil is red/brown earth with underlying calcareous red clay and built on blue shale rock layers. The Mourvèdre is sourced from a hillside single vineyard on Moppa Hill and planted in ancient sandy soil over orange clay.
100% de-stemmed, 18-hour skin contact and then whole berry pressed juice to a vessel for co-fermentation. Wild ferment to start and selected cultured yeast part way through ferment. Fermented with light lees, temperature kept moderate, between 16 & 17 degrees over 30 days. After fermentation the wine was kept on light lees for a further 5 months before bottling. This wine is vegan friendly.
