Limited Three Old Vine Moppa Grenache 2005

Hand Picked | Basket Pressed | 94 pts by James Halliday

Limited Three is a reference to just 3 barrels made from a small 3 acre block of Grenache. These ancient gnarled vines were planted in the mid 1920’s and stand testament to time. Hand picked, basket pressed, open top fermented with 18 months maturation in French and American oak has produced this stunning wine.

Show Tasting Notes

Appearance:  Intense crimson red, hues of deep purple.

Aroma:  Layers of spice lead to hints of pepper and follow rich red and dark fruits. Raspberry, plum and forest berries overlay nuances of truffle, toasty oak and slight earthy undertones.

Palate: This wine displays superb fruit concentration. Rich dark fruits found on the nose follow through on the palate. Dark plums, blackberries and blackcurrants give way to hints of vanilla oak and layers of spice. Refined silky tannins give way to superb length and a lingering finish with warming alcohol.
