Jack’s Shiraz 2011
Hand Picked | Basket Pressed
The 2011 Jack’s Shiraz was sourced entirely from the Kalleske’s Greenock estate. All the best vineyards that would normally be allocated to the ‘Greenock Shiraz’ label were re-allocated to the 2011 Jack’s as no ‘Greenock Shiraz’ or ‘Limited Two Shiraz’ will be made from this vintage. The 2011 vintage was cool, cloudy and wet, very unseasonal for the Barossa Valley. There were numerous accounts of mildew and botrytis effected grapes from many regions across Australia from the 2011 vintage.
The Kalleske vineyards performed exceptionally well with the tough conditions from this challenging vintage. The combination of our higher altitude vineyards, and open vine canopies allowed for good air flow along with 6 generations of knowledge and expertise tending to our vines resulted in healthy grapes. The 2011 Jack’s Shiraz has excellent colour for the vintage, good concentration of flavour, vibrant aromas with cool climate influences; lots of pepper, spice and balanced acidity.
