Greenock Shiraz 2016
Single Vineyard | Estate Grown | Hand Picked | Basket Pressed
The 2016 Greenock Shiraz was sourced from a single vineyard grown on the families Greenock property, known as the East Block. Only the finest fruit from the hillside of the East block was selected for the 2016 Greenock Shiraz. East Block is red earth over friable red clay leading into a mix of calcareous clay, formed over an ironstone rich hill.
The grapes were handpicked, 100% de-stemmed and 100% crushed berries were then placed into small open top fermenters. Fermentation and extended maceration on skins were conducted over 15 days with the cap being hand plunged three times per day with an occasional rack and return. After primary fermentation the wine is drained to barrel and the skins are hand dug to the basket press.

Appearance: Dark to magenta core with an intense crimson red rim.
Aroma: Classic Greenock with Christmas cake spices, liquorice, dried bay leaves and semi dried violets. Pepper nuances flow on beautifully with the featured perfumed black fruits, quince paste, black olive and underlying cedar oak notes.
Palate: Full bodied and concentrated with a chewy palate. Flavours of dark bitter chocolate, black cherry and plum are attributed to this vintage. The tannins are plush and fine grained with acidity in perfect balance. Take the time to enjoy the long lingering finish!
