Greenock Shiraz 2010

Single Vineyard | Basket Pressed | Gold medal winner at Brisbane Wine Show

The 2010 Greenock Shiraz was sourced from a single vineyard grown on the Kalleske’s Greenock property affectionately known as East Block. This working farm has been owned by the Kalleske family since 1855.
This is one of the finest Greenock Shiraz to date; the 2010 vintage was an exceptional vintage with good winter rain and follow up spring rains. The overall conditions were near perfect for grape growing and backed up with mild weather during the day and cool nights leading into harvest.

Show Tasting Notes

Appearance: Impenetrable black core with a crimson rim.

Aroma: Classic Greenock Shiraz aromas of black fruits, dark chocolate and liquorice dominate the nose with hints of black olive, quince violets, spice, black pepper and sweet cedary oak.

Palate: Concentrated velvety palate with a solid core of richly textured black fruits, Christmas cake, tobacco and toasty cedar oak. This is all framed by a finish of fine grainy tannins and lingering spiciness, a sophisticated wine that is approachable now but will benefit from time in the cellar.
