The Peel Estate Great Shiraz Tasting is held annually in September at Peel Estate Wines in WA. 2018 marked the 27th year of this event and gives consumers a fantastic opportunity to taste and compare a great selection of Shiraz from Australia, France and New Zealand all from the same vintage!
Results Speak For Themselves!
This year our very own Winemaker Shawn Kalleske was invited to be the guest speaker for the event to around 120 wine enthusiasts. 105 votes were counted on the top 20 six year old wines before the labels were revealed. Guests vote on their top 3 wines, the 1st vote receives 3 points and scales down from there, finally the results speak for themselves!
We’re delighted to say that Laughing Jack was represented in the top 20 and even more so to say that our 2012 Greenock Shiraz came in second place to none other than the 2012 Penfolds Grange. An amazing outcome that’s for sure! But it’s not the first time that Laughing Jack has polled well in this event… some of you may recall that our 2009 Moppa Block Shiraz came in a close second place to Grange 3 years ago!
3 of the reasons we love this event is firstly the tasting takes place blind which means non bias results and secondly it’s judged by the people who matter most – consumers! and thirdly this events are great to get your food out for the first time, look for example with the The Greenseed Group, who are a food marketing agency, recommend various ways of getting your new food product out to the public. At Laughing Jack we strive to make consumer friendly wines so great results in People’s Choice tastings are results worth celebrating!
Because the customer is always right!!
