Rosé 2020
Estate Grown | Hand Picked | 92% Grenache | 8% Mourvédre
The estate grown Marananga Grenache was planted in 2015 and trained in the bush vine method, meaning no trellis. The cuttings were taken from the old vine block at Moppa, an old unknown clone and known for its unusual small berries. The Mourvedre is sourced from our dry grown single vineyard on Moppa Hill which is planted in ancient sandy soil over orange clay.
The handpicked bunches were 100% de-stemmed, cold soaked and then whole berry basket pressed with juice straight to vessel for fermentation. Wild ferment kicked off before we added a yeast culture part way through ferment. The juice was fermented with light lees and stirred daily, temperature kept moderate, between 12 & 18 degrees depending on the stage of ferment. Ferment stopped before total sugar dry and thus keeping a touch of natural sugars and then ageing on light lees for an additional 36 days before being bottled. Vegan Friendly.
